Web Developer/ Webmaster (Front End)
(Bangkok)

Responsibilities:

• We're looking for someone to coordinate and help expand our international web efforts, which include large sites, micro sites and landing pages. You won't be responsible for maintaining a CMS or other web applications, you will only be responsible for minor application layer coding in PHP (capturing and inserting GET variables, inserting includes, etc). Primarily, your responsibility will be to work with our existing web staff to handle the uploading, creation, alteration and maintenance of our web pages and the settings of the standard hosting providers they reside on.

Requirements:

• You will need a basic understanding of DNS as it relates to managing domains, subdomains and various other simple concerns like setting up proper CNAME aliases.
• You will need to understand the basics of LAMP web hosting platforms like CPanel, Plesk and HSphere.
• You will need to be able to contact ISP support desks independently and on your own to solve problems.
• You will need to know how to upload, download and backup files via FTP reliably and regularly.
• You will need to understand the basics of htaccess files and how to use them to alter common server and apache module settings (redirects, mod_rewrite, etc).
• You will need basic familiarity with PHP and core functions like variable usage, manipulation of server and query string variables, using includes, comparative operators and the like - you will not need to be an advanced OOP/MVC PHP programmer.
• You will need very good familiarity with native coding of XHTML/CSS in a clean and organized format. You don't need HTML5 skill or advanced techniques, but you need solid XHTML/CSS skills and an understanding of the box model.
• You will need to understand basic semantic coding/SEO concepts such as using list operators and headings when appropriate.
• You will not be allowed to use or install WYSIWYG editors at work. This position requires native knowledge of XHTML/CSS code.
• You will need to have basic Photoshop web skills including how to resize, crop and optimize images cleanly for display on the web (understand why and when to use a PNG-24 vs. a JPG and how to apply transparency cleanly).
• You will need an understanding of CMS concepts like modularity, repeating regions and site variables - we'll teach you our CMS, which is very simple and you won't need to maintain it.
• You will need to use Google Docs and Zoho Projects to keep track of the status of web sites and the status of integration of content into web sites.
• You will need to understand Google Analytics tracking integration and we'll work with you on integrating Google Ad Words tracking codes and Salesforce tracking codes.
• jQuery or MooTools experience is a plus, but not required. Advanced PHP understanding is a plus, but not required. Shell skills are a plus, but not required.
• No Flash experience is required.
